Sometimes living in the mountains means getting a call you weren't expecting.
A deer had become trapped between the pickets of a neighbor's deck. By the time we arrived, she was terrified—and you can hear it in the video.
Getting to her meant climbing down the snowy hillside and trying to free her without making things worse. One well-placed kick loosened the picket beside her head.
And just like that, she was free.
She jumped from the deck and disappeared back into the snowy forest.
What This Meant to Me
We all have hard days, and living in the mountains can make those days even harder. This was one of those reminders of how important it is to know your neighbors and stick together.
Up here, we lean on each other when life—or the elements—gets hard.
It takes a village. Especially in the mountains.
